- BLOODSHED FEST 2011:
We had a great time playing Bloodshed, but unfortunately accusations were made by someone not willing to discuss their concerns. Therefore the following statement is being circulated:
Following on from a recent accusation made at the Bloodshed festival in the Netherlands, After the last Sky would like to make the point that we are not and in no way have ever been connected to the NSBM scene. The sheer gall of someone to accuse us of this after the sacrifices our families made fighting against this oppressive regime is all the more insulting. Having visited many countries particularly in mainland Europe I can not think of country where there is a better integration and acceptance of different races and cultures than the UK. At times this may lead to a level of naivety or ignorance of the severity of problems that other countries have and for which we apologise should such a misunderstanding have arisen.
Admittedly the UK is not free from discrimination or groups that hold members with national socialist sympathies, but these are few in number and weak in power when compared to similar parties on the mainland or other continents with their points largely being moot in a country where our friends, family, neighbours and colleagues come from a variety of backgrounds other than White and British.
Furthermore the people that have played in the band, booked or toured with us, sold, distributed or funded our releases would not have done so if there had been any hint of support for such a defunct ideology. This scene is small enough as it is and with the rise of the internet it is increasingly difficult to survive in without considerable investment both in terms of time and money. We find it hard to understand why we would have worked so hard and made the sacrifices we have if we did not have common ground with the people in this community. The beginning of witch hunts within our own back yard will only lead to a further disintegration of this scene.
In summation After The Last Sky has not and will not be blinded by ideological brainwashing from
whatever quarters it comes. We remain committed to a vision of human dignity, liberation and community solidarity in opposition to both the status quo and national socialist politics. Should you need further proof you have only to look to our lyrics and commentaries or the other bands we have played with and supported as well as the political activities we have been involved with. (Lastly) we do not agree with imposing our views and beliefs on others and believe people should be free to make their own decisions without coercion and intimidation.
